Aligning yourself with what your audience aspires to gives you a positive frame of reference.
Use something your target knows and use it to show yourself positively.
Kind of like start up world to convey something is dogshit they say it is uber for xyz (uber for dogs)
Because it conveys the idea via something you already know.
And the simile itself lets us conclude if its cool or dumb.
The simile used should have an element that your target understands like the back of their hand.
Like Uber for dogs.
This works for venture capitalists because they know what Uber is and that it burns money and if it was for dogs then it would be even worse.
So the word you use in your simile should be positive and understood really well.
And the object of that simile should be something that invokes intuition that it will just take off.
It should invoke hope, optimism, excitement, and sense of usefulness.
Uber for dog just says that it is definitely gonna burn money and it’s useless as it’s just for dogs.
But on the other hand,
Cigarettes with protein, that just slaps.
Cigarettes are cool and stable revenue and well, who doesn’t want protein?
So it comes down to having a small simple sentence and having words that have very high familiarity with your audience.
And the syntax should invoke desire for both investors and customers.
Basically, world is full of idiots and they are customers too.
So you have to be idiot proof.
So good and clear that even a Neanderthal would buy from you because your communication just hits.
