Problem Curation

AI is almost excellent at almost everything.

Of course, there exists a lot of areas where it might be bested by humans or where it is not very effective.

But if you think about it, the area of competence is huge.

AI is a really good thinker and problem solver.

But it cannot find valuable problems to solve.

Show in the new paradigm our job becomes problem curation so that we can get them solved by the AI.

A problem can be vague problem statements or a step in a process.

It can be something like asking it to summarize a period of history for you or do the next step in derivation.

But you are supposed to constantly provide it with valuable problems.

Problems that if solved can result in some benefit due to the context we find ourselves in.

That means you have to be a aware person.

You have to read up about and listen to what is going on around you, Because that way you can find problems worth solving.

AI as of now a reactive. You have to present them a situation to which they will react.

So the situations you present, the problems you bring on to them determine the value you unlock.

A good parallel here would be having the right kind of data is necessary to derive insights from it.

Same way having the right kind of problems is necessary to derive value from AI.

You have to sense problems, and sort them in priority of being solved such that they unlock value for you.

“Garbage in, garbage out” applies to data analysis, “problems in, value out” for AI collaboration.

In today’s world, corporations identify problems and then hire a lobbyist so that they can get their problem solved by the government. You have to be a combination of those corporations and lobbyists. You have to find a problem and get it solved by AI

AI can do so much.

So make sure the problems you are giving to it are not just some college assignments or some office PPT.

It can be solving way bigger problems for you and delivering value to you that you may not have even imagined it could.

The value you derive from AI is directly related to the quality of problems you get solved by it.

You got a billionaire with a blank check standing in front of you. Don’t ask for $2 or $3.

Well, you are supposed to be the corporation finding problems, you are supposed to be the lobbyist trying to get those solved you. Cannot be all of that right.

You cannot be all industries at once.

That’s why role playing and gaming out scenarios and processes is helpful in current paradigm. Because that puts you in their shoes and identify problems.

So outsourcing of thinking and execution to AI has Delegated the work of Finding more problems to us. And we have to be more serious about it.

Techniques of Edward de Bono like 6 hats thinking are more relevant than ever now.

Problem identification is now the primary bottleneck and differentiator.
