the big problem w everything in world is that you can do anything and how yet you must do something for there to be a thing. the form and constraints are specific. You have to be deliberate af even if there can be anything. Thats why arts are appreciated. the canvas can be anything but you made it this specific thing.

i see same thing reoccurring at other places too. vibecoding can help you make anything but you have to make something. when financial modelling you can project anything but yet you have to make something, something right. In world where you can make any video, which one do YOU make.

Thus when you carve out something specific out of infinity you have to make alot of choices. Those choices say alot about you. Sometimes those choices or the framework to make those choices are more valuable than the products themselves.

Professions which are not enclosed in recipes like brickmaking, waiting tables, accounting sit on the opposite end of professions where such recipes break down. Examples can be lobbying, diplomacy, entrepreneurship, marketing, coding, biochem scientists, exotic financial modeling etc. In middle can be things where job can be done without recipe or following someone else’s recipe. Things like sales, marketing, junior level coding, etc.

What i am trying to say is that playing with infinity to make something is a valuable and complicated skill. And i believe alot of people get stuck just there. They wanna do something big but realise that there can be so much yet they dont know what to do and thus get defeated by nothing. Unable to make countless small choices about what to include, what to ignore, which assumptions to bake in.

Making a film, app, promo video, documentary, a medical decision in ambiguous territory, making a valuation model for a novel firm, a reel, etc are really respectable endeavors for me because to make something they have to fight with everything, they had to fight with infinity. They had to say countless NOs, establish alot of scope boundaries and reason alot of decisions.

Thus if you wanna do something big, get comfortable with:

• knowing you have infinite options to do
• you cannot do all of them
• you will have to establish scope and enforce it with boundaries
• say no to alot of things
• double down on what you can do best and already know
• Yet keep learning new things
