Simple product, rich relations.

It does not matter how simple or replicable your product is.

Near my house there are 3-4 grocery stores and they sell the same fucking shit.

And I go back to the same guy because:

  • I like him
  • The way he talks
  • The things he talks about
  • the community around it (if I go to that shop I know he’ll find someone who knows me)

So non unique offering is not a bad thing.

That the product is the only thing that makes you go back to a seller is wrong.

It is also how they talk with you, what they communicate and the community around it

For example Cluely, there is an open source application with which you can do the cheating thing. But its just that these people are so unhinged. Roy Lee has that rebellious kind of bullshit going on for him so you’d rather buy the product from him. Because you know that guy is a rebel and I’m using it for cheating. Your mind makes the associations. So i think that is a huge part of it. It’s not getting upset over the fact that I have a very simple product, its about how you talk with people, what kind of relationship you build and the community you establish.

One way to extend this relationship can be to:

  • leverage physical things (like if you’re just selling software or reports, send some physical note or goodies along with it if your item is high ticket enough)
  • Communicate more by sending them insights, jokes, what’s happening in the niche or a simple happy birthday note.
