First thing to establish is different systems or algorithms have different levels of efficiency when it comes to finding the target audience and delivering information or communication to them so that you get popularity in the right niches.
Social media or YouTube algorithms are not as drill down or sniper-like compared to business’s Marketing team that will hound down to reach to those few thousand people in their target market
Those sniper like systems have so much research behind them and utilize way different data than what these social media or youtube algorithms do. They are general associations and interest-based algorithms. They cannot go on a level as deep as your business’s marketing team can go.
So up till now I have been making the mistake of polishing my script instead of focusing on my positioning and how big the time is for the video
I just realized the video i see on my feed are not just about how good the hook is or how intuitive or nicely in the script is
It is all about the TAM and how big it is
All the videos from qoves have such big TAM
They either make videos about faces related to countries or famous people or a facial feature thats not niche
Almost everything on my for you page is a Video topic that is never an isolated abstract thing
It is always about some huge TAM
all the reels i see on my feed are same
Huge TAMs like gym, AI, thirst traps, travel, motivation, protests, politics, war
like what’s the point if i make absolute gold and the tam for it is like only 5 to 10k people in world
i can’t expect instagram to be efficient enough to find those people and to show them those videos regularly
that’s just dumb as fuck
instagram algorithm works in general better for big tams because associations can be clearly established.
if i’m going for something niche then that’s a thing for a business.
that’s where you create your own distribution channels that are efficient enough that they can find this handful of people via advertising or whatever.
I have to establish axis in my head that the more niche the thing is, the more specialized distribution channels or network are needed. And the more generic it is the more I can rely on this generic things like social media or YouTube. And the measure of generic here is how big that tam is and how obvious it is.
A topic can be somewhat niche and still work on social media when its audience is extremely legible. “Investment banking analysts working past midnight” is niche, but it has recognizable cultural signals and can spread outward through corporate humour. Meanwhile, an abstract AI mechanism may technically affect millions of people but remain algorithmically illegible because almost nobody recognizes its name, searches for it, or has an emotional identity attached to it.
The sequence of operations is supposed to be:
Idea > Positioning it as a big TAM thing > dialing down the script quality.
Don’t work on script unless you are sure about the high time.
