batching issues

You know, you will join a new job and you won’t know what to do in any tasks and you will be really reluctant to ask questions. So you will sit there, we’ll try to do something. We’ll try to figure it out and it doesn’t work. And now 45 minutes have passed and you have made no progress. And you are expected to deliver work and now it is even worse to face anyone because for 45 minutes you did nothing and if you had just ask someone it could not have ended up in this way. So this is exactly how I used to operate for past one month.

But now I realized forget all that bro just do what you can, collect all the low-hanging fruits and whatever you are not able to do just tell someone that hey I did all this I was not able to do this please help me out thank you thank you. And ain’t that amazing. Because previously why was I stopping at that one block when I could have done everything else. It would have been better for my own self-image and also for the people I was working with. That instead of a 5% complete file, this guy is bringing me 95% complete file with just one problem and that problem is taking me like five minutes to solve, how cool.

If you are a shovel just dig out all the sand you can don’t bother with the rocks call in the guy who can deal with rocks don’t just scrape some of the sand and then just keep hitting the rocks because now the sand is still there and the stone has not moved even an inch lol.

So yeah i guess deploy the pac-man strategy do all you can leave out whatever you can for people who know how to deal with it and learn from them and of course keep in mind that if everything else is dependent on that one bottleneck then get it resolved asap

Because forget the word forget everything as a person for your own self image you have to always keep gathering evidence for self-competence. If you just keep staying stuck with a five percent complete file that is going to devastate you. So be the guy with the 95% file both the 5% and 95% guy are stuck at the same problem but one will have way better morale and self-image.

The 5% guy sees: “I’ve been here for an hour and I still can’t do this. Maybe I’m bad at the job.”

The 95% guy sees: “I did basically the whole thing. There’s one judgment call I need help with.”
