Context gap obliteration

When we are, like, dealing with strange-looking objects is always going to be, like, just if something is different or better or whatever, we can just pit it against the expectation or the baseline, so that people are forced to interact with video via this comparison type thing. This was a good thing.

It’s like make it fucking obvious. If if something you think is better or strange, show the normal as well so that you have the fucking proof that this is special. Okay, you pull out the fucking receipts. You don’t leave it to conclusion. Like imagine there is someone out there who never knew about TV remotes. Even if you show him the gun, why would he care? But if you show him this, this versus this. It establishes the context like we are in a way filling the context gaps.

This is also why videos showing completeness kind of work. That those videos where they go seven levels of XYZ or XYZ in two hours, complete XYZ from start to finish. That promise works because it is essentially closing all the gaps. I think human mind is very averse to context gaps. And if something is promising something completely, then it kind of satisfies us. And we are more likely to choose that thing.
