The two spurts of growth I have had on Instagram came from when I was actually doing something, and the videos were just me talking about it. For example, running a SASS and studying LLMs and executing Manim code. Basically I was in one instance running a business and in another mastering animation using manim and AI was just a wrapper around it.
So in a esoteric way I think videos are only working when I am also doing something independent of them. If I am just creating content for the sake of content, I I I don’t enjoy it. Nor neither is the algorithm enjoy it.
So I have decided I want to be on some bullshit again. I want to do crazy things. I have the AI subscriptions to do it. I want to be crazy again. I will and I will just share my results. Like I want to run weird experiments since I have all the scraping and processing privilege I ever need. Maybe that’s all I need. That I just keep running weird experiments every. Day every hour whenever I get a hypothesis in my head, and I share results of it with the world.
And people wanna watch a man in motion. I get that. People wanna be mocked in a fucking video. They wanna see someone do amazing shit. They want to watch spectacles that they cannot do themselves. So if your video is just AI, then they could have made that prompt also. And they also understand that you might have sent only like five, six prompts that are like ten, ten words longage. It’s not something special. You, your work was only five. fifty words long. People get that. I think what I need now is to make weirdly crazy experiments that are completely digital and just keep reporting about them to the world. I think I have to make experiments at the intersection of dreams and nightmares of people and keep going with it. The success of this can be seen with Facebook’s hotornot.com with Clueless cheating on interviews, with Uber’s decision to neglect city rules, everything comes from a really, really bold experiment and controversy. Let’s do that. Let’s, let’s, let’s run this shit. Let’s do some experiments. Small in scope, but high in fucking cultural impact.
Let’s experiment or talk about other people’s experiment and how you can replicate them because they give outlier results. Come on man, how was I so fucking creatively bankrupt for the last four months? I can run any fucking experiment I want. So why not do that?
Come on man, fight it bro. Conflict maxing, controversy maxing, spectacle maxing. We know what to do.
beluga maxxing lol check his channel
I was doing the wrong thing. I had almost developed a lens today that I will look at something and only think how this can be a script. No, no, no, no, no, no. I have to think how this can be a fucking experiment. That’s that’s what we are supposed to do. We are not supposed to think about, hey, how can I make this into an explainer or a funny script? No, no, no, no. Think about the weird experiment you can make out of that thing.
And this is definitely changing my opinions when it comes to marketing. You cannot market anything. Marketing needs a soul, and that soul is experimentation. You can market Gucci or Prada or any luxurious brand because at the core there is experiment that hey, high artisanalship, community, exclusivity is going to create value. Or if it’s a SaaS, there is hypothesis at its core that. We are going to reduce the time complexity of solution for a lot of people with this technology. There is always an experiment underlying it, and the stakes of that experiment, the impact of that experiment, is what gives lives to the marketing initiatives. So to just think that you can read a book and then make videos and those videos. Are not even related to exam. That is foolish to think that it will have any impact on the world. In a sense, we are always marketing an experiment.
This is why some things are truly unmarketable. You cannot market a la la company. You cannot market a very very isolated and uninteresting run of the mill manufacturer. There is no experiment underlying it all. So I think I now understand that it it is a lie that you can market anything. You can market something that has a soul. That soul comes from a experiment that it is running.
