Market and lowest common denominator

market is bottlenecked by the people that participate in it

the opportunities and all the jazz comes from the people

great, hopeful and smart people make really awesome markets

so its always an advantage to be at places with people like that because it makes a good market.

This is also the reason why internet is such a crazy commercial opportunity because anyone can participate in it and then we have algorithms which are sophisticated enough that they can serve whoever we want as long as they are also on the platform.

Like if you are in Amravati you cannot think of making a viable business out of selling $30-50k handbags in local market. But you can definitely run a e-commerce operation doing the same.

So you have to think about who you’re selling to, what they’re doing on the platform. Can we find concrete evidence of their engagement, like the type of videos they watch? The comments they have left, the saves, the shares, whatever we can get our hands on, and then using that to create your own content.

Basically, internet allows you to sell to anyone, but you should not let yourself get carried away and try to figure out what these people want from first principles. You should constrain yourself to just using blatant evidence that they left themselves on the internet.

Like if you’re starting a jewelry brand, go through forums, go through Reddit, go through comments, go through YouTube videos. Do pilot paid ads and whatnot, but figure out things about these people. Get evidence about who they are and what they do, and then after that you start targeting them. It’s like once you. See these guys in action. It is inevitable that you will be able to target them very very easily.

And always think about the common denominator. You can go really niche, sure, that’s cool. But make sure that your content has that lowest common denominator too. Like if you’re making psychology videos, the average person on YouTube or Instagram is someone who is dealing with procrastination. Imposter syndrome, loneliness, anxiety, brain fog. These are really common. These are common denominator for everybody on the fucking app. So why not start with that as well. Always try to hit the common denominator when feasible.
