Time Dilation

One thing I’m fascinated by these days is how fast or slow we perceive time.

Using your phone can definitely do that. If you feel like your weekends are going too fast and your workdays last too long, you will notice a pattern that on your weekends you are using a lot of phone and during your weekdays of course during job you cannot use much of your phone. Try ending ten minutes with. without phone and you will notice the difference

And emotions definitely do affect how fast or slow we feel things. Even the same emotion can make it feel go fast or slow. Anxiety can make the present moment feel unbearably long, and maybe your prep days before exam really short.

But one thing I realize is that without distraction, the present moment is infinite. I don’t know how to describe this, but that just how it is.

So here are some time dilation tricks I learned to get more out of my life.

First things first, there is the present movement and there is the present condition. You have to have complete disregard for the present condition. May it be good or bad, never think about it. Because the present condition. Will not be ideal one for most of us. We have our dreams, we have our ambition, we have places where we wanna be. And thinking about the present condition will make you feel stuck. So you gotta live in the present moment and keep scheming actions to win the future and keep. Dreaming, okay. Give the present moment and future actions all your mind, and keep dreaming. But never contemplate about the present condition too much. That’s a siren song. The present condition can be bad or overwhelming, but the present moment never is. So that also means you can live any life, but since we gotta strive for our dreams, we by thinking about living in the present moment make everything bearable, and then even in that calm and peace, we seek out what we want. You have infinite rest in the present moment. You can have infinite energy, intuition, calm, bandwidth, brain power. You can have it all when you are in the present moment.

This is random sentence. When time feels slow on bed with nothing going on, you feel sleepy.

Okay, back to the topic. What makes your time go fast and is not something bad like Instagram, drugs, distraction, etc. Is maybe something that is you calling because that is essentially your flow state. And don’t think of times in terms of clock anymore. Think in terms of How you’re perceiving it, and how you can feel the present moment more.

You know, there is something that does not allow us to watch hundred minutes of YouTube videos, but we can easily watch hundred minutes of reels. It’s because the layer is so thin, the slices are so thin that we don’t mind consuming another, and we just keep going without any want to turn back. I think same happens when we switch from. Any of the time frame to just the present moment. It is so unbearably light in the present moment that we are able to spend a lot of resources that we never knew we had and we will never be in any type of deficit even if we spend them.

Like think about your job. When you say hey, can I do this corporate thing for thirty years? It’s a huge block. The answer of it in your head most might likely be no. Then you say hey, can I do another year? Then you become more. And then you say, hey, can I do another month? You become even more certain. And then when you keep going down and down, and the question becomes, say, can I move this number from this cell to another cell in the next ten seconds? And the answer becomes even more resounding, yes. And what are your thirty years of corporate if not just doing that?

This is exactly how you can study impossible things. You build crazy businesses, make that passion project, or create those media assets you always wanted to exist out there.

Don’t run a marathon, just keep running to the next streetlight, and you might end up running more than the damn marathon. Don’t try to create a video, just keep trying to get to the next scene.

And you know, even in between very very fast things, you’ll always find slivers of slow time. And if you keep manipulating the way you perceive time, you can actually make those moments feel longer than the actual time blocks that you have. You can make your coffee break feel longer than the huge walk sprint you just did. And all that you need to do is to first give up on things that are making you feel the time faster, and engage in things that make it even slower.

Get to the next street light in this slivers of movement you have, and this way you can run your marathon whole day while technically you had no free time and were doing something else. That’s how you can brainstorm your next video even on a weekday.

You don’t have to work twelve hours and then figure out how you can make a video in just two hours and have good sleep also. No, you don’t need to do all that. No matter what kind of work you got, you will have your mind to yourself for slivers of moments. And if you stay persistent and keep revisiting your working progress during that sliver, you will have way more cooler ideas popping up because you are actually giving your brain some time to process it in the back end. You won’t be rushing things. You will be making additions only when enough time has passed and maybe you have something cool. And you know it yourself also that instead of ideating in a two hour block, if you are doing it over a span of whole day and visiting it for like five five minutes each time, it is going to be way better in this scattered way because you are actually giving your brain time to come up with things.

So basically, your time is way longer than you currently perceive it as, and if you keep harvesting the slivers of time and keep enlarging them, you can get a lot done. No, you are not stuck and you don’t have scarcity of time. In fact, it is structured in a way that is most beneficial to you.

Just keep a notepad with you where in your downtime you just keep revisiting it and writing and continuing ideas. Write ideate storyboard or just think on paper whole day and just info dump it into AI at the end of the day and you will have something cool.

Even with a really long job, you can be the artist whole day, one who keeps thinking about his art whole day.

Isn’t that the freedom of being an artistic person that you can be with your craft, no matter what. No matter what type of time blocks you get, or The work conditions you have. In fact, they just shape your expression in a unique way. You can be a full time artist, part time artist, or. Sliver artist like me, but you can always be an artist, unlike other professions which just demand that you gotta be this and that. I guess that’s the beauty of art that you can be committed to it no matter what

The corporate identity of me requires a time block, the permissions, the equipment, the teammates, the data, the tools and whatnot. But the artist side of me just needs a pen and paper, and sometimes not even that.
